In March 2025, China exported 426.74 tons of carbon fiber, 268.11 tons of carbon fiber fabric, 126.34 tons of carbon fiber prepreg, and 724.57 tons of other carbon fiber products. The total export volume of carbon fiber products was 1,545.76 tons, an increase of 64.47% year-on-year and 118.86% month-on-month.
In March 2025, China's net import volume of carbon fiber was 246.13 tons, the net export volume of carbon fiber fabrics was 168.46 tons, the net import volume of carbon fiber prepregs was 62.40 tons, the net import volume of other carbon fiber products was 108.46 tons, and the total net import volume of carbon fiber products was 248.52 tons.
In March 2025, the domestic market price of carbon fiber remained stable. The market price of raw material acrylonitrile rebounded narrowly after a decline, with the average monthly price dropping by 2,483 yuan per ton compared to the previous month, a decline of 21.96%. The production cost of carbon fiber decreased, but most were still in a loss-making state. The intention of enterprises to raise prices still existed. In the second half of the month, a major factory in Jilin raised the price of its carbon fiber products. Some enterprises have raised their offers. On the supply side, no new production capacity has been put into operation and released this month. The facilities under maintenance in the early stage have been gradually restarted. Coupled with the fact that downstream enterprises have been entering the market for inquiries and purchases one after another, the orders of enterprises have increased, and the overall operating level of the industry has improved. On the demand side, the overall purchasing atmosphere in the downstream sector has slightly improved this month, with an increase in inquiry purchases. However, most of them are competitive inquiries, pursuing low-price purchases, and the price increase is weak. In terms of imports and exports, the import volumes of carbon fiber, carbon fiber fabrics, carbon fiber prepregs and other carbon fiber products in China all increased month-on-month in March.
In March 2025, the total import volume of carbon fiber was 672.867 tons, increasing by 23.35% year-on-year and 1.85% month-on-month. Its imports mainly come from Japan, with an import volume of 415.061 tons, accounting for as high as 61.69%. South Korea and Taiwan of China follow, with import volumes of 76.866 tons and 73.61 tons respectively, accounting for 11.42% and 10.94% respectively. The average import price of carbon fiber is 15.28 US dollars per kilogram, among which the average import price of carbon fiber from Japan is 17.47 US dollars per kilogram.
From the perspective of trade methods, in March 2025, China's carbon fiber imports were mainly through processing trade with imported materials and general trade. Among them, the quantity of carbon fiber imported through processing trade with imported materials was 330.098 tons, accounting for 49.06%, while the quantity of carbon fiber imported through general trade was 310.625 tons, accounting for 46.16%.

In March 2025, the total import volume of carbon fiber prepregs was 188.736 tons, increasing by 19% year-on-year and 39.5% month-on-month. Its imports mainly come from Japan and Taiwan, China, with import quantities of 63.395 tons and 44.716 tons respectively. The average import price of carbon fiber prepregs was 97.03 US dollars per kilogram, among which the average import price of carbon fiber prepregs from Japan was 89.73 US dollars per kilogram.
In March 2025, the total import volume of carbon fiber products not listed for electrical use was 833.027 tons, increasing by 12.34% year-on-year and 86.07% month-on-month. Its imports mainly come from Japan and Taiwan, China, with import quantities of 577.262 tons and 160.013 tons respectively. The average import price of carbon fiber products not listed for electrical use was 22.01 US dollars per kilogram, among which the average import price from Japan was 19.23 US dollars per kilogram.
